it's been a long time since i've been here..long enough for me to forget how to write a post.. i was trying to find the "write" button... i came back to see how everyone was doing..
The kite runner. I am still crying over it. I've read the book, know the events, know the ending, and it still touched me. This is one of the very rare films which does full justice to the book on which it is based. I cannot say enough about this movie, i'll be thinking about it for days. The acting and the cast was just superb. I adore the two young actors and the father. What a cast and cinematography! It was filmed on location in China. What a story that touches every sense and leaves a lasting impression. I like that it was subtitled. When they spoke their native tongue, the movie was even better, there was a sense of connection. You not only hear them but you hear their hearts speaking. There were a few parts that made me sob, i had to contain myself because i was moving the seats and there was a lady right beside me. One of my favorite scenes was when Amir was reading the letter from Hassan...his emotions were so real, i was sobbing with him as he read the letter. A good cry was much needed to wrap this year up. When i watch a movie like the kite runner that has much substance, i can't help but get in my reflect mode. i encourage everyone to watch it if you haven't. It's heart touching, tear jerking, thought provoking....
Happy New Year to all...
Eat. Pray. Love. So simple, so much truth. This book is so good. I recently started reading this book and i can't put it down. I like the author's charm and wit. The stories remind me so much of Art's mom, her experiences, the Ashram, India, the beads, spirituality and i very well relate to her journey because at one point (maybe still do), i wanted to do all of those things. Mostly this book reminds me of Art's mom for all the things she's taught us. She is the window to things, life, and places i never knew about...
The other day i was at the downtown library to check out some nerdy techy books to prep for an exam i had to take. For the life of me i couldn't remember where i parked so after walking up a few levels i finally found it! I got in the car and as soon as i was about to close the door i hear the sound of a car that's driving too fast in an underground parking. His tires made a squeal and braked hard, i assumed he spotted my space. He was looking at me as if wanted my spot. I'm closing my door to get out so he can have my spot, (i try not to linger, i hate that). I see over my shoulder that he's looking at me while he puts in reverse and drives and....still looking at me....While i'm ready to move out, I then hear this crisp sound of a car hitting a pillar and a loud "F*** "! Then he puts in drive and pulls into the spot that was behind me. The garage attendants heard this and ran to ask what the problem was and the man was just mad, screaming and cursing that the pillar was there and it was too close. Ha! So boys, lesson here, don't check girls out and try to drive, you can't multi task..
What's the best practical joke you've pulled or had pulled on you?

I was cutting these deep dark riped reddish orange nectarines, you know the part where it's close to the core, it's really ripe and red, i got some of that red on my hands. I screamed to my bf, "Ahhhh! Oh my gosh! I cut myself!!" He came running at the speed of light, (which i've never seen before) in a distraught voice, "what happened?? are you ok??" I then bursted into laughter , while he tried to kick me....and we both ended up in laughter agreeing that that was a good one that i just pulled on him.
Art and i went to the mall Friday to exchange some tempur-pedic pillows and do some shopping. It's nice that he has 9/80 days. What that means is, he works 9 hr days, 80 hrs total for those 9 days and gets every other Friday off. It works really well when we want to take a short getaway. But now that i'm starting work again, i won't have long weekends with him. Boo... we have a lot of fun together. Just being able to go to the mall at an oddly hour when most ppl are at work was nice! So we're walking in, heading towards Brookstones, i said to him,
I think it'll be quicker if i walked through Macy's.
Hmm...you sure? Ok, you walk through Macy's and i'll take the normal route.
Ok. Don't cheat now! You know how slow i walk!
I walk through Macy's, making my way out and i don't see him. I thought maybe he meant to meet at Brookstones when i turn to see him rounding the corner. Ha! Art does a hmph, darn! she beat me fist and face! I can't help but burst into laughter at his reaction to me standing ahead of him. I raise my arms in the air like i've won something big. The old man who is sitting and killing time is amused by my behaviour and looks to see who i was laughing at.
I finally found the right job for me!! After many interviews, rejections, not the right fit....finally...no more freedom! If i sound excited, it's not that it's because i'm giving up my freedom but it's a beginning to something great... I got hired on the spot and i sorta went in with good feelings having interviewed with the VP and managers over the phone prior. It's crazy how quick they want me to jump in and get familiar with the company. I'm flying out to San Antonio this Sunday evening to meet with the VP and shadow him! Anyone out in that area? Gosh, i'd need to make new friends from all over. I'll be required to travel 50% of the time.
**edited, going to Dallas, not San Antonio!
